SharePoint Saturday Huntsville was a Huge Success

SharePoint Saturday Huntsville was a Huge Success and so much fun to attend!

Located in Huntsville, Alabama and held at the beautiful Jackson Center, the event was well organized and very professionally run.

I wish I could have attended all of the sessions and also presented. Why haven’t we learned to duplicate ourselves, yet? 🙂 Cathy Dew and Mark Rackley did a great job organizing the event, and it went very smoothly. I was impressed with the pamphlets describing all the speakers, ...

Business Emails

Posted by:

I have been using “Thank You” as a Complimentary Closing on my emails for some time now, probably about two years. The reason is that I wanted the recipient of my emails to feel appreciated. Whether I was doing work for them, or they were doing work for me, I thought it would be like a subconscious encouragement to them. It is nice to be thanked for what you do.

Recently, I decided to change my complimentary closing. A quick ...

Considering the Cloud

Considering the Cloud

We are probably going to use Azure to host our SharePoint 2013 Intranet and Extranet. In the meantime, as I’m reading I’m compiling notes and linking to resources below so that I can find them again faster and so you can use them if you’d like. Maybe they’ll help you in considering the best solution for your organization.

Object Consulting, a 25 year old SI company, has not only made the transition to

Ben McMann gave a great presentation.

Ben referenced this video where the Scott Cook describes the principles of lean startups as they apply to business. To learn more, read the book The Lean Startup by Eric Ries.

I have included my notes from the video Creating a Culture of Experimentation from the Lean Startup Conference 2012 below:

World Leaders Conference

#WLCWebcast

These are my notes and quotes taken from the World Leaders Conference that I attended virtually on November 8, 2013. I listened to it in the background while working, and it WAS inspiring. I hope this may be inspiring to you, too, if anyone visits this blog 🙂 but mainly it is for me to refer to, and to show appreciation to those who GAVE to us by offering the event, speaking ...

RMS – Microsoft Rights Management

Posted by:

Sweet! Just when I was pricing Intralinks to use with SharePoint, I learned RMS is being integrated. Thanks for the info (and nice breakfast at Ruth’s Chris) last week, Sparkhound. @TheRMSguy tweeted that the new Microsoft RMS has shipped and I went to sign up for a free account . Unfortunaely, I got the message “Sorry, your organization has disabled ...

Compare Nokia’s Lumia 1520 to Lumia 1020

Posted by:

I LOVE my Nokia 1020 phone. I read about the 1520 and like so many of you out there, I’m initially inclined to want the newer technology. That being said, I’m not sure that’s really what I want. Searching for a comparison chart and not finding one, I’m compiling some of the differentiators below. For now I’m staying with the 1020 that I LOVE and pre-ordered what feels like only weeks ago – ah, time flies.

My notes: After reviewing ...

SharePoint Saturday Dallas 2013 – what a great event!

Posted by:

Thank you so much to @DFWSharePoint for putting on SharePoint Saturday Dallas.

SPSDFW was held November 2, 2013 at Microsoft’s Las Colinas Campus, not too far from Fairlight Consulting.

I enjoyed the opportunity to speak. My presentation discussed Making a Business Case for SharePoint, from the perspective of Tait Environmental Services (TAIT). We use SharePoint for our Environmental Compliance System, TECS Online.
