My thoughts on Satya’s email to employees

I liked these quotes:

So true, stood out to me: “The true scarce commodity is increasingly human attention” – Satya Nadella

I like that they’re focusing to “maximize the value of technology while also preserving the values that are timeless”

Why I like MS: “We have a rich heritage and a unique capability around building productivity experiences and platforms”

“Microsoft has a unique ability to harmonize the world’s devices, apps, docs, data and social networks in digital work and life experiences so that people are at the center and are empowered to do more and achieve more with what is becoming an increasingly scarce commodity – time!”

Time is way more valuable than money to me

“We will reinvent productivity for people who are swimming in a growing sea of devices, apps, data and social networks” – my profiles!!

“Productive people and organizations are the primary drivers of individual fulfilment and economic growth and we need to do everything to make the experiences and platforms that enable this ubiquitous. We will think of every user as a potential “dual user” – people who will use technology for their work or school and also deeply use it in their personal digital life.” Double, triple, quadruple users like me and many others, especially entrepreneurs, have a need for this simplification. We are quick adopters that end up with a myriad of devices and have extreme demands on our time.

Go, Microsoft. “obsess over reinventing productivity and platforms” and create what I need. History has shown me that someone else may create it but you’ll come along and do it better, enterprise-grade. I look forward to that.

I’m hoping your “specific focus on dual use” will encompass my ideas and dramatically simplify my life and work.

This is my dream! My thought, what I’ve been wanting every dev to build with/for me! 🙂 “Apps will be designed as dual use with the intelligence to partition data between work and life and with the respect for each person’s privacy choices”

“For example, today the Cortana app on my Windows Phone merges data from highway sensors and my own calendar and simply reminds me to leave work to make it to my daughter’s recital on time.” I tried updating my Nokia Lumia 1020 and it fried the phone. I got another one but I’m not ready to try it again, yet 😉

This says Opportunity to me: “Every Microsoft digital work and life experience will also provide third-party extensibility and enable a rich developer ecosystem around our cloud OS.”
